Day 29 - Roof Slates & Skylight

Tiling the front roof
I was in London today so went to the flat to see how the guys were getting on. It was snowing as I drove up and on site it was bitterly cold but the three of them were working hard. Ivan and Nick were re-covering part of the front roof with slates. There is still a lot of insulation to go in. but all of it is on the flat parts of the roof. I made a last minute decision to put in a skylight on the flat loft roof. It wouldn't fit directly above the loft staircase as one of the steels was in the way so it's more above the landing just in front of the steel.

  1. Putting in a skylight is surely a last minute decision you wouldn't regret you made. The good thing here is that it was not an afterthought. The installation would've been harder then. Though it didn't fit right above the loft staircase, it can still improve the atmosphere on such dark corners of the house, especially in visually improving the dimensions. :) -->Joanne

  2. Yes I'm glad I put it in. Without it the landing would be very dark. The light it brings is fantastic

  3. Having a skylight is really essential. Not only does it add ventilation, but it also provides an additional source of light.

  4. Roofing job + snow = BIG challenge! It’s not easy to finish this up, especially since you made a last minute addition. It’s a good thing that you have 3 dedicated guys to work on this, so every detail you want will be done. How is it by the way?
